Meet the Wangers
Francis and Arlene Wanger from Mason, MI have committed their lives to raising special needs foster children. They currently have 11 children, 7 of whom live at home with special needs ranging from physical to mental handicaps, hearing and speech impairments, to those who are wheelchair bound. All nine people currently live in a home that is less than 1, 000 square feet built in 1922 that is unable to meet the family’s daily living needs and suffers from many necessary repairs.
Can you help those who have committed their lives to helping others?
Why a new home for the Wangers?
The Wanger’s did not ask for a new home. They originally asked GLHBA Member Mark Voss and their church for some help with needed repairs to get them through the winter.
When Mark assessed the needed repairs, the extent of the families needs, and the living conditions, he brought the project to the Greater Lansing Home Builders Association (GLHBA) Community Service Committee.
From there, the project grew from volunteers spending a day making repairs to members gathering supplies, supporters raising donations, and volunteering to build the Wanger’s a new home.
