FOUNDATION

Founded in 1999, by dedicated members who are committed to giving back to our local community. It is recognized by the IRS as a charitable foundation.

The foundation exists to do three things:
1. Support students with scholarships who aspire to work in the home building industry, and the home building trades.

2. Assist in providing shelter for families that have a demonstrated financial need.

3. Contributions to assist other local community service organizations who support the home building industry.

Housing Research Institute

The Housing Research Institute (HRI) is the research division of the Greater Lansing Home Builders Association foundation. HRI studies issues in the region that affect housing and informs the public about these issues. The work of the Housing Research Institute is funded through tax-deductible contributions that are made by interested parties to the GLHBA Foundation.

The goals of the HRI are three-fold for the Greater Lansing Region:

    • Study the issues and identify the barriers to affordable housing;
    • Identify and facilitate the implementation of policy changes toward the implementation of Smart Growth;
    • Foster partnerships and relationships with other stakeholders who encourage the construction of affordable housing for all residents.
