The Introductory Session: covers the basics of residential green building, how to meet the National Model Green Home Building Guidelines requirements for home certification, the use of durable and environmentally sustainable materials, the importance of indoor air quality and low impact development. The Advanced Session expands on the details of the “how to” that builders need to actually build green. Topics include: An in- depth understanding of the house as a system approach to green building; understanding the thermal dynamics necessary to achieve the most effective and economical level of insulation; Control moisture and the durability of each component of the building envelope; Improving sustainability through proper selection of building materials and correct installation methods; How to achieve superior indoor air quality; and how to lower materials expenses while improving each area of the home. Green Built Lansing The GreaterLansing Home Builders Association has started our very own Green Building Chapter in January 2007. Green Built Michigan began in the Spring of 1996. Since then nearly half a dozen local chapters have been formed to provide education and information to members about green building.
